Consumo Justo App: Responsible Consumption Tools in Your Pocket

How can we make sustainability education easier to integrate into everyday youth work? The Consumo Justo App was created as a practical digital tool for youth workers, educators and young people who want to explore fair, ethical and local consumption without having to search through dozens of different resources.
The app brings together educational resources, practical activities, good practices and local alternatives in one accessible space. Instead of focusing only on theory, it helps users move from understanding responsible consumption to discussing it, experimenting with it and turning ideas into action.
A practical tool for youth workers
For youth workers and educators, Consumo Justo can work as a portable toolbox for planning and facilitating activities. Whether you are preparing a full training programme, looking for an activity for tomorrow's youth session, or simply need inspiration for a discussion, the app provides materials that can be adapted to different groups and learning environments. The Mobile Application Guide specifically highlights that the app can reduce the need for printed materials and extensive preparation, while its Activity Sheets can be directly integrated into workshops and discussions.
The app includes several types of content, including Explanation Sheets, Good Practices, Activity Sheets, National Resources and a Territory Actors Map. Together, these features allow users to approach responsible consumption from different directions: first understanding a topic, then discovering examples of what others are doing, and finally putting that knowledge into practice through participatory activities.
One particularly useful feature for facilitators is the possibility to search for activities according to practical needs. When planning a workshop, users can explore Activity Sheets using filters such as theme, duration, complexity and number of participants, making it easier to find something suitable for a specific group and available timeframe.
From quick inspiration to complete activities
You do not need to work through the app from beginning to end. It was intentionally designed to be flexible. If you have only a few minutes, you can explore an Explanation Sheet to understand a concept. If you are looking for inspiration, you can browse Good Practices. If you are preparing an educational session, you can go directly to the Activity Sheets and choose something appropriate for your participants. Users can also bookmark resources and build their own collection to return to later.
This makes the app useful beyond organised training activities. Young people can explore responsible consumption independently and at their own pace, while youth workers can combine different resources to create workshops and discussions. The Territory Actors Map can also help connect learning with initiatives and actors working on responsible consumption in local communities.
Another practical advantage is offline access. Once content has been downloaded, it can remain available without a constant internet connection, making the app particularly useful during trainings, activities in youth centres, mobility projects or work in rural areas where connectivity may be limited.
Available in six languages
To make the resources easier to use across different European contexts, the Consumo Justo App is available in six languages: English, Latvian, French, Spanish, Polish and Norwegian. Users can select their preferred language and access the interface and content accordingly, supporting the use of the same educational resource with different groups and countries. The multilingual approach was designed to increase accessibility and inclusion for young people and youth workers across Europe.
At its core, Consumo Justo is about making responsible consumption easier to explore, discuss and put into practice. Topics such as Fair Trade, ethical consumption, local alternatives and the environmental and social consequences of everyday choices can sometimes feel complex. Having activities, explanations and examples together in one mobile tool makes it easier to bring these conversations directly into youth work.
